Welcome! I am Violet Valley, the coach here! My coaching practice is guided by my desire to help those who just need a little bit more perspective on a situation, need help taking accountability for a mistake, or who seek to improve one’s own lived experience in our world.

I do not claim to have all of the knowledge or skills to help anyone, just those who think they could gain something from someone such as myself. The folks who seek out my coaching most often simply work better with someone with shared identities or experiences.

What is coaching?

  • Life coaching uses all of the knowledge, best practices, experience, and expertise from my therapy practice without the wrappings of actual therapy. This type of coaching is great for transitional periods in your life when you want some guidance, wisdom, or just a sounding board, but you don’t want to go through the process of finding and establishing with a therapist.

  • Similar to life coaching, but with couples, triads, and any polycule configuration! Great for folks who are looking for mediation around a difficult topic or if you’re relationship is about to open up.

  • I do not expect anyone to trust me fully from the start, so I invite you to meet with me for 15 minutes, no charge! I will meet with you to talk about myself, yourself, or anything you’d like to get to know me more.

The Coach: Violet Valley

I wholeheartedly believe that coaching success comes from being able to foster a rapport that makes the client feel understood, regardless of cultural differences, identity overlaps, or personal narrative. Meeting clients' cultural and intellectual needs in session is extremely important to me, so the practice of cultural and intellectual humility helps me bridge the divide between myself and my clients. However, many potential clients would like to know who I am and what I have experienced. Below are some of my lived experiences, so that you can decide for yourself if you think we will be a good fit. If you still have questions, scroll down to schedule a 15 minute get-to-know-you chat.

My immigrant grandparents, with my mother, escaped Indo oppression in The Netherlands to the US, where they claimed assimilated into White American culture. Thus, I grew up with mostly white American culture, Indo foods, and raised as a white person, not understanding my heritage. (Pictured here are all my late immigrant family: Oma Hilly, Oma Annie, and Opa Bert, est. 2010.)
